Project bank accounts are being used in the construction industry around the world. The New South Wales Government has recently introduced a proposal to establish trial project bank accounts.
The objective of project bank accounts is for the head contractor to secure funds which must be paid direct to the sub-contractors. Sub-contractors will be paid directly by government agencies, rather than the head contractor.
